The aim of this booklet is certainly not to elaborate on the technique of the steps an formations in
Scottish Country Dancing (SCD). That should be left to the experts....
What I would like to do is share my thoughts on teaching new dancers and mixed level groups. I'll also
provide you with a list of Internet links and references to useful publications on the topic....
Moreover, this booklet is not meant to be a collection or publication of dances suitable for beginners.
I refer to many dances already published in book-form or on websites, and at the back have
listed all these dances alphabetically, giving you the source where you can access them.

If you are starting a new SCD class, or have beginners wanting to join your class, your main
aim should be to help them enjoy the dancing.
